I forgot to mention Tohjoh Asami in my previous list of favourite mangaka. It really sucks that she died though sad

Ahhh... Tojoh Asami. Yeah, the few manga of hers, that I read had at least some elements that made them kinda interesting, albeit they weren't always that consistent. It's too bad she died though.

The thing I liked the most in her works was the art style, to be honest. I like the cleaner and clearer style (like Yamane Ayano and Tohjoh Asami for example).

It's too bad when a good artist dies, regardless of whether one is a fan of their work or not. Somehow it feels like the world is being deprived of something grand. Of course, it's just as awful if someone else dies but... heck, I can't explain it very well. I hope y'all get my meaning anyway.

Ahh I see... I'd never really paid too much attention to details of artwork like that but that yah... I see what you mean about liking an artist for their style of art. smile

For me, it was her ability to combine sexiness, viciousness and brutality within her stories, without getting really creepy like Sadahiro Mika does(f*ck I'll be damned if I've to read about children being subjected to realistic torture and "suggested realistic rape"). Mmm... I can kind of slightly understand what you mean about losing a good artist. Though... mmm... I'd feel pretty bad too if a good storyteller passed away.

Well of course. A storyteller is an artist too. Just like a pretty picture, a good story is the best of art as well. Art is not just about pictures but rather about creating beauty and substance with whatever means one has. If it's being able to draw nicely, to paint, to sculpt, to sing or play or to tell a good story... it's all art in its own right.

Which is what I mean with it being sad if an artist dies, even if one doesn't like their style in particular. If I may sound a bit cheesy and melodramatic: It's a great loss for the world to lose an artist. The human world is an ugly place... we need art of many variations to stay sane.

OK, I'll list by genre too. So I'm not redundant, I'll just say right here that all the guys are hot. love

Josei:
YOSHIHARA Yuki for her delicious funny smut
OHMI Tomu - Midnight Secretary; Love Cruise (oneshot)
ENJOUJI Maki for Hapi Mari, which reminds me of Yoshihara's work

Shoujo:
YUKI Kaori - Count Cain/God Child; Ludwig Kakumei. Such style, such twisted tales.
AIHARA Miki for Hot Gimmick
TAKAYA Natsuki - Fruits Basket
NAKAMURA Yoshiki - Tokyo Crazy Paradise

Shounen:
MINEKURA Kazuya - Saiyuki; Wild Adapter; Bus Gamer. The tagline for the Saiyuki Reload DVD release was "You can't take your eyes off them", and for me and her gorgeous boys, that's literally true. Plus she knows how to tell a great story.

Shounen-ai/Yaoi:
NITTA Youka - When a Man Loves a Man; Haru wo Daite Ita
MIYAMOTO Kano - If you are a yaoi fangirl and have not read her stories, stop reading this and go! I especially like her collection of shorts "Make Me Happy."

KOUGA Yun - Loveless
MATSUSHITA Yoko - Yami no Matsuei
